Hello Panthers,
2020 marked the beginning of several trials for our West High community, both students and alumni. As students and parents of students moved to remote learning and meetings, so did the West High Alumni Association. To the valuable members of the Alumni Board who had to step down from our ranks to focus on various aspects of their life due to personal circumstances and those connected to the pandemic, we send them a hearty “thank you” for their years of work for the Association.
We continue focusing on our main objectives of alumni development, alumni engagement and the association’s operations. We want to instill confidence in our community that our love tor our mission has led us to continue providing scholarships for gradating Week seniors and other activities, ensuring many can pursue career training after high school.
With that in mind, please note WHAA has a few, limited number of seats for new Board members. If you would like to get involved in that capacity (or a smaller capacity due to time constraints), please visit westalumni.org/donate/volunteer/. Alternatively, please email me at [email protected], I would love to speak with you. We are also making the Bound more virtual-friendly, meaning geography won’t be an issue for you anywhere around the globe.
As always, the cost of college tuition continues to rise. To date, the WHAA has awarded more than $1.5 million in scholarships to graduating West seniors. As alumni, we ask for you help to ensure this continues. Please consider making a financial contribution, as any amount helps fuel a student’s progress toward their career, especially as we approach the 100 wear anniversary of the WHS building.
