Request a Letter of Recommendation
The mission of the West High Alumni Association scholarship program is to help students who may otherwise lack the financial resources to pursue their education goals. Preference is given to students who demonstrate financial need and a potential to succeed in college (regardless of high school GPA).
As part of the 2019 scholarship application requirements, applicants are required to provide one letter of recommendation. Applicants are encouraged to request a letter of recommendation prior to the scholarship application deadline (April 5) using the form below).
An email will automatically be sent to the email address provided by the applicant once the “Request a Letter of Recommendation” form OR the scholarship application is submitted.
Please note, it is the scholarship applicant’s responsibility to ensure their recommender has submitted a letter of recommendation before the deadline.
Applicants will receive an email confirmation once a letter of recommendation has been received. Letters of recommendation must be submitted directly by the recommender by Friday, April 5, 2019.
Letter of Recommendation Guidelines
- A letter of recommendation should be provided from a teacher, coach, West High faculty/staff, community professional or similar mentor.
- This must be submitted to the WHAA directly by the recommender no later than Friday, April 5 at 11:59 p.m.

- There is no page limit; letters may be as brief or detailed as the recommender feels necessary. We strongly encourage recommenders to include in details about extenuating circumstances, strengths, etc. about the scholarship application the recommender feels may relevant for the scholarship committee.
